"For years, the Left has said I'm Right and the Right has said I'm Left. I'm dyslexic to matters of Left and Right," Israel Radio quoted Israel Beiteinu MK Yisrael Hasson as saying on Thursday afternoon, only hours after he announced that he would join Kadima and run in the faction's upcoming primaries. In an interview with Israel Radio on Thursday morning, Kadima chair Tzipi Livni strongly backed Hasson's decision, saying, "I've known him for a long time... he's been involved in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, he's worked with [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak and [slain former prime minister Yitzhak] Rabin. "He's an important addition to the party," she affirmed. Earlier in the day, while announcing his bid to join Kadima, Hasson said that policy-shaping was the most important issue to him, and downplayed the importance of faction membership. "I became politically active in order to serve my country and I will do so in any framework in which I can be involved directly in political decision-making and shaping, and wherever I can contribute my political and security experience," he said.
