The High Court of Justice rejected a petition on Sunday filed by the town of
Beitar Ilit demanding that the Education Ministry provide school meals to the town's Haredi schools.
The panel of judges accepted the Education Ministry's argument that the meal program applied only to schools that acted according to the Long School-Day Law, and did not apply to schools not recognized as acting under that law.
The municipality of Beitar Ilit, one of the poorest towns in
Israel, has already said that it will appeal the to High Court for additional deliberation on the matter, Army Radio reported.
