The IDF denied on Monday that outgoing Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz had said that Israel's political echelon had "failed" and not understood the ramifications of its decisions during the summer's Lebanon war.
A statement published by the IDF spokesman said that the quote "did not reflect in any way what the chief of staff said," and that "the unnamed sources did not reflect [Halutz's] position."
