IDF destroys tunnel found between Gaza and Egypt

The Israeli army announced Saturday it found and destroyed a tunnel used for arms smuggling between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. The tunnel was more than 150 meters (yards) long and opened into a chicken coop on the Gaza side, the army said. It was for this reason that Israeli forces had been operating in the area. The IDF said it expects to find more tunnels as operations continue. A Palestinian security official confirmed that a tunnel linking Egypt and Gaza was found and destroyed. He also said that it was likely used to smuggle weapons to Palestinian militants.
