Kadima-National Union supporters clash in J'lem

A brawl broke out at a main Jerusalem intersection on Tuesday between Kadima and National Union supporters, police said. There were no injuries reported in the late-morning fracas at the city's northern French Hill intersection, in which activists from each party ripped the other's signs up before fleeing the scene, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. Elsewhere in Jerusalem, an extremist haredi man was detained at a polling station in M'ea Shearim after calling on neighborhood residents not to vote, police said. Earlier in the morning, another haredi was detained in Ramat Beit Shemesh who took part in a similar protest by about 30 haredi extremists from the radical Satmar sect. Later in the day, a Shas activist was arrested at a city polling station after assaulting a activist from the rival Agudat Yisrael faction. Separately, a Shas activist was distanced from a Givat Ze'ev polling station after distributing campaign propaganda at the site, police said.
