Labor central committee votes to leave gov't

The Labor Party's central committee met on Sunday evening in what amounted to a show of force for new Labor chairman Amir Peretz, who used the event to show that the party was unified behind him. The central committee decided to hold the primaries for the party's Knesset list on January 17, 2006. Due to the new date, those who wish to join the Labor party can do so until Thursday, November 24. On December 4, the new membership list will be published, and appeals will only be possible following that date. In the wake of the decision, party ministers were expected to tender their resignations as soon as tomorrow.
