Labor: Kadima agreed to NIS 500 minimum wage raise

Labor officials reported early Monday morning that Kadima had agreed to raise the minimum wage by NIS 500. They said that the increase would take place in four stages with a NIS 250 raise this coming June 1, a further NIS 125 on April 1, 2007, and the last NIS 125 on July 1 of that year. Labor has promised to raise the minimum wage by about NIS 1,000, to $1,000 per month, by the end of its term in the newly-inaugurated 17th Knesset. This comes in addition to the NIS 122 increase in minimum wage at the beginning of April, when the minimum wage underwent a routine readjustment to changing market standards.
