By JPOST.COM STAFF
"We cannot stand idly by while rockets are fired at us," Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said in a phone conversation with her Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Monday.
Livni warned that the situation was deteriorating and stressed that Israel had a responsibility and a right to defend its citizens.
The conversation was held as part of Israel's hasbara (public diplomacy) campaign ahead of an expected military operation in the Gaza Strip.
