MK Danny Naveh (Likud), in conjunction with former Foreign Ministry director-general Eitan Bentsur, former UN Ambassador Dori Gold and Dr. Yair Rosen, prepared on Monday an international lawsuit against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to be submitted to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. According to the language of the suit, "the declarations of the Iranian president, from various podiums and on many occasions, of his intentions to wipe Israel from the map, and his efforts to convince others to join him in this move, are testament to the fact that the destruction of Israel is a central aim of Iranian foreign policy." The suit charges Ahmadinejad with "direct public incitement to murder a nation and attempted murder of a nation," and calls on the UN Security Council to restrict Iran from the international stage. Naveh called on Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to inform the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee of the lawsuit as part of a campaign to change Israel's method of addressing Ahmadinejad's threats. Naveh said that he was suing in order to employ legal and ethical measures against Ahmadinejad.
