MK Vilan: Reservists not ready for next war

Meretz MK Avshalom Vilan said that the current state of most reserve units requires Israel to pass a law obliging the army to call those units only in emergency cases, Israel Radio reported Wednesday morning. As the head of the Reserve Service lobby in the Knesset, Vilan said that the statistics point at the poor operational state that the units are in, which endangers both the reservists and the operations in which they partake. According to an IDF report, a fifth of all IDF reserve soldiers are not qualified for prolonged operational activity.
