MKs: Hanegbi stopping motion against PM's choice

Members of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee claimed on Tuesday that committee head MK Tzahi Hanegbi was thwarting a motion to condemn Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's decision not to set up the state commission of inquiry that most of the committee members supported. The motion, proposed by MK Effi Eitam (NU/NRP), called for a state commission of inquiry to be set up alongside the governmental commission that Olmert announced on Monday. MKs Danny Yatom, Ran Cohen, Yitzhak Ahronovich, and Matan Vilna'i have already voiced their support for the proposal. Hanegbi responded by saying that the committee members were not acting according to regulations and did not officially call to convene a committee meeting. If they did, Hanegbi said, he would bring up the topic.
