Netanyahu: Double number of evangelicals visitors

Israel should work to double the number of evangelical Christians visiting the Holy Land, Likud opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu said this week. "We have only begun to scratch the surface of the tremendous potential of faith-based tourism to Israel of evangelical Christians," Netanyahu said in an address Wednesday night to the Jerusalem Municipality's Economic Club. The former premier said that if he returns to leadership a campaign to double the number of evangelical Christians tourists coming to Israel would be a cornerstone and policy of his government. Evangelical Christians currently make up more than 1/3 of tourism market from the US. Netanyahu's remarks comes amidst burgeoning relations between Israel and the predominantly pro-Israel Evangelical Christian community around the world.
