Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu vowed on Wednesday to form a national unity government
if he is elected prime minister. Speaking to reporters at a meeting with a delegation
from Florida led by Governor Charlie Crist, he criticized the government's handling of
the rocket attacks on the Western Negev and pressed for stronger action.
"We need new elections as rapidly as possible," Netanyahu said. "If people vote my party
into power, I will turn to every Zionist party and I will suggest that under our
leadership, we form as broad a national-unity government as possible. I have no doubt
that the Likud could defeat any Labor candidate and I will invite Labor to join a
government headed by me."
