New director general for Eilat hospital

Eilat's Josephthal Hospital has a new director-general, Prof. Yohanan Peiser, a general surgeon and medical administrator who until now was deputy director of Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba. Peiser, 52, replaces Dr. Zvi Epstein, who has run the country's southernmost hospital for 12 years and was recently appointed acquisition director in the logistics branch of Clalit Health Services, which owns both Josephthal and Soroka. Peiser will be in charge not only of Eilat's 65-bed, 300-staffer hospital, but also of Clalit's outpatient clinics serving 30,000 of the city's residents. Married and the father of three, he lives in Omer outside Beersheba.
