Paz-Pines calls for gov't committee of inquiry into Peki'in riots

MK Ophir Paz-Pines called Sunday for Public Security Minister Avi Dichter to establish a government committee of inquiry, similar to the Zeiler Committee on police corruption, to investigate last week's riots in Peki'in. "No organization can investigate itself," Paz-Pines said. The Knesset Internal Affairs and Environment Committee convened Sunday morning in Peki'in to discuss Tuesday's riots, which left some 30 police officers injured. Local council head Muhammad Hir told the committee members what had led up to the violence.
