Peretz: Mofaz 'ignored' problems as defense head

Defense Minister Amir Peretz on Tuesday accused his predecessor, Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz, for implementing a policy of "ignoring" during his tenure as defense minister. Peretz claimed that from the moment he began his tenure, he was forced to deal with a difficult situation that had developed over the years prior to his term as defense minister. He blamed the turn of events on the defense establishment, which he said had ignored the problems facing Israel. The defense establishment, Peretz said, had not focused on training, equipment and the development of defense systems against rockets attacks. Peretz made his comments following the submittal of a report on the defense establishment written by State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss.
