Petah Tikva Deputy Mayor Sinai Gilboa (Shas) resigned on Wednesday following a scathing report issued by the state comptroller last week accusing him of taking bribes.
Gilboa, an attorney by profession, allegedly received millions of shekels from the Dan transport company for his legal services while at the same time taking advantage of his public position to promote the company's interests.
After resigning, Giloba said, "The precedent set by the comptroller could prevent top professionals from committing themselves to public office."
