Police detain seven PFLP activists in Jerusalem

Jerusalem police detained seven Palestinian activists from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - including the group's head - who gathered in an east Jerusalem hotel on Wednesday to hold a press conference about the upcoming Palestinian parliamentary elections, police said. Several of the suspects resisted arrest, and police had to use force to take them into custody. The detained PFLP Jerusalem leader, Abdel Latif Shahada, is the number 10 on the group's list. Israel has forbidden all Palestinian terror organizations from campaigning in east Jerusalem, and Jerusalem police have carried out a series of raids against such gatherings over the last week.
