Police shoot suspect in Galilee during chase through fields

A man was shot in the legs by police Wednesday evening, during a chase through the fields of Kfar Yasif in the western Galilee.
According to the police report, the suspect refused to stop when instructed, and was shot in the legs after threatening policemen.
The 40-year-old man, who is suspected of involvement in a burglary, was lightly injured, and taken to a hospital in Nahariyah for treatment.
Deputy Maj.-Gen. Avi Edri, the commander of the Akko police station, stated that the suspect was released from jail two months ago, and that he is a suspect in a number of burglaries in the Akko area.
