Police try to prevent settlers from reaching hill

Military and police forces have set up temporary roadblocks in Gush Etzion in an effort to prevent dozens of Rightwing activists from reaching a hill near Efrat where they plan to establish a new neighborhood on Wednesday. The organizers were reporting excessive police violence against protestors, including women and children who were trying to climb Eitam hill. The Efrat municipality claims that Eitam is part of the original government-sanctioned plan for the town's limits and the land is Jewish-owned. As well as attempting to stop the settlers from reaching the area, security forces held up a group of Peace Now activists who were trying to enter Efrat through its northern access.
