Pope: Let's all pray for Gaza truce

Pope Benedict XVI is inviting prayers for those working to achieve a cease-fire in the Gaza fighting. Benedict said people should also pray for the "hundreds" of children, women and elderly who have been killed during the Israeli offensive in Gaza. He told pilgrims in St. Peter's Square on Sunday he wants to encourage all those who believe, on both sides of the conflict, that there is space for everyone to live in the Holy Land. The pope said people must "courageously" resume dialogue to bring lasting peace to the region.
