Kadima council head Haim Ramon on Thursday reacted to allegations that he had said there was no point in entering into direct talks with the Palestinians, by saying that the person who reported these claims was an anonymous witness "who thinks he heard what he heard."Ramon reportedly discussed the peace process with Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat, according to an unconfirmed witness on Israel Radio.RELATED:US steps up calls for direct talksErekat says demolitions threaten talksThe source said Thursday that Ramon had said there was "no point" entering into direct talks.Ramon said that some of the things that the witness claimed were not said at all, and some of them were just interpretations of the witness."I have said in the past and I will say it again today - I say through the media what I say on closed talks, and my political interpretation relating to the Netanyahu government's capabilities of bringing about an agreement with the Palestinians is clear and unambigious," Ramon continued.The anonymous witness told Israel Radio that the pair were speaking in English and overheard Ramon saying that he was sent by Peres with the encouragement of another side and the two spoke about how and whether to advance from proximity to direct talks.The witness continued, telling Israel Radio that Ramon advised Erekat not to advance to direct talks and there was no point because Netanyahu would not agree to anything.Israel radio reported that Kadima leader Tzipi Livni said she is looking into to the claims through the proper channels.
