The Shahak Committee appointed by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to oversee the implementation of the Winograd Committee's interim report has recommended sweeping organizational changes to the Prime Minister's Office.
According to Yediot Aharonot, the committee recommended that the national security council head become a stronger presence in the PMO and brief the prime minister daily on security and diplomatic matters. In addition, a national security headquarters and a center for dealing with national crises would be set up in the Prime Minister's Office.
Associates of the prime minister called the recommendations "detached from the reality of government."
