An IDF vehicle stopped near the truck and soldiers got out to inspect it. For reasons that remain unclear, a second IDF vehicle that arrived on the scene crashed into the soldiers and the Palestinian truck. Lugasi was standing outside the truck when he was hit. Security officials said the injured soldiers were treated at the scene and were then taken to hospital in Israel, while the Palestinian was taken by the Red Crescent Ambulance service to hospital in Nablus. OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh appointed Colonel Yochai Ben-Yishai to investigate the circumstances of the accident, in addition to a military police investigation that has also been launched.
