The Mossawa Advocacy Center for Arab Citizens of
Israel has launched a festival of its own over the
Succot and Ramadan holiday with a culture and film feast in Nazareth, despite any financial backing from the government.
The festival, under the heading "Equality if a Right," opened on Wednesday and is due to run until next Tuesday. It includes films by Palestinian, Israeli and foreign producers, as well as discussion groups between Arab and Jewish academics, intellectuals, artists, authors, filmmakers and media personnel.
Organizers hope it will become an annual event and that in future years it will be sponsored and supported by government funds.
