Tel Aviv: Municipality to dismantle Begin Rd. shuk

The Tel Aviv municipality will start dismantling the market near Menachem Begin Road. According to the municipality, the location of the shuk has led to traffic congestion, particularly on Saturday evenings when agricultural produce is brought in.
Merchants in the market demanded the removal be delayed until the city completed building a new market at the Mesubim Junction. The municipality and the merchants disagreed over the amount of compensation the city should pay, with the merchants demanding $1.5 million each and the city agreeing to $180,000 each.
