Weekend traffic accidents claimed two young lives overnight Thursday. Atlit residents Yossi Ben-Naim and Sa'ar Asraf, both 17, were killed when the car in which they were traveling overturned on Route 2, at the southern entrance to Haifa. Three others were lightly to moderately injured in the crash. Police said that the 17-year-old driver of the car had tried to speed past another vehicle. However, he clipped the second car, lost control and hit the central barrier. The car then overturned and Asraf and Ben-Naim, who were sitting in the back, were flung out of the vehicle and killed. Police said it appeared that neither Asraf nor Ben-Naim were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. The driver who caused the crash and another front-seat passenger sustained light to moderate injuries. Police said that the driver's license was only seven months old. The 42-year-old driver of the second car was also lightly to moderately injured.
