Vilna'i calls on PM to fire Limor Livnat

MK Matan Vilna'i (Labor) called on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to fire Education Minister Limor Livnat (Likud), Army Radio reported Saturday. According to Vilna'i, recently released statistics on academic achievement prove that the state of Israel's educational system has never been worse. Last years results from high school matriculation (bagrut) courses were released last week. The results, which were sent from the Education Ministry to high school principles throughout the country, paint a distressing picture. The average grade for a student studying level three mathematics for their bagrut was 57, the national average for civics studies was 62, while the average for language and expression was 67.8.
