Yaron finishes coordinating North's reconstruction

Maj.-Gen. (res.) Amos Yaron, the Government Coordinator for the Reconstruction of Infrastructures and Institutions in Haifa and the North, notified Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Tuesday that his team has completed the repair of most of the damages from the summer's war, according to the Prime Minister's Office. Yaron also asked the prime minister to release him from his position by the end of December, noting that what problems remained could be handled by the various government ministries and local councils. According to a statement released by the PMO, Olmert thanked Yaron for the "quick and efficient work, the results of which may be seen on the ground in Haifa and other northern communities." Yaron then thanked the prime minister and commended the cooperation of Prime Minister's Office Dir.-Gen. Ra'anan Dinur, as well as other ministries and local councils he worked with. Olmert appointed Yaron to the position in the aftermath of the war in order to coordinate government ministries and local councils in the restoration of infrastructure in the North.
