At the start of coalition talks between Likud and Shas on Wednesday afternoon, Yishai said that he would not raise the issue of portfolios, and instead devote the talks to finding solutions to the economic crisis and unemployment. Regarding matters of religion and state, he said, "When there's a will, there is a solution to everything within in the framework of Jewish law." When asked if there was an agreement reached already in October between Shas and Likud, he said, "Get it through your heads, there is no agreement with [Likud leader Binyamin] Netanyahu. There's no document. We are beginning today with a clean slate."
