AIPAC Boycott: Addressing some 18,000 people at the annual gathering of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington on March 1, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon slammed Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders for boycotting the event. “We don’t want Sanders at AIPAC. We don’t want him in Israel. Anyone who calls our prime minister a ‘racist’ is either a liar, an ignorant fool or both,” Danon said. Explaining his decision, Sanders tweeted, “I remain concerned about the platform AIPAC provides for leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights. For that reason I will not attend their conference.”
