The general assembly (GA) of the United Jewish Communities, the umbrella organization representing hundreds of Jewish communities around North America, is set to open in
Toronto Sunday.
The five-day event will address issues ranging from Holocaust remembrance and elderly care to Jewish education, the plight of Jews in Europe and Israeli current events.
However, a rather telling forum at this year's GA is titled, "Will
Klal Yisrael matter to the next generation?", as Jewish officials and lay leaders will discuss a period marked by marginalization of Jewish identity and a decline in Jewish giving to Jewish causes.
