Ukrainian President Yushchenko decries anti- Semitism

Anti-Semitism in the Ukraine is a marginal phenomenon which will not be tolerated, the country's president Victor Yushchenko said Thursday. Speaking before a gathering of the Jerusalem-based Israel Council on Foreign Relations (ICFR), Yushchenko added: "I want to make clear that none of the major political parties in the Ukraine is anti-Semitic. For too long, Ukrainian nationalism has been equated with anti-Semitism, and that is unfortunate."
