The North American United Jewish Committees launched a fundraising campaign in 1000 synagogues in the United States on Saturday.
The campaign was intended to raise $1.5 million in order to install television sets and air conditioners in bomb shelters in northern Israel.
A previous fundraiser raised $1 million to pay for children from northern Israel to go to summer camps in the country's central region.
