The foundation stone for a new NIS 16 million cultural center to be named after late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was laid last week at the Carmel Beach, reports Yediot Haifa. The 2300-square-meter center will contain an open amphitheater, an auditorium that seats 500, a local library, a sports center, an activity center for the elderly and an art gallery. The center is being jointly funded by the city, the Mifal Hapayis lottery organization, and the Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport.
