The IDF killed Hezbollah’s logistics commander of its Southern Front, Abbas Hassan Karky, on Friday in southern Lebanon, the military stated.
Karky was located in the Nabatieh area when the Israeli military launched a strike to kill him. Karky was involved in efforts to rebuild Hezbollah's military capabilities and assisted in reestablishing infrastructure for the terrorist organization, the IDF added.
He had also overseen the transfer and storage of weapons for the Lebanon-based terrorist organization in the southern parts of the country.
Karky's actions constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the IDF added, referring to the ceasefire agreement implemented between the two countries last year.
The IDF also killed another Hezbollah terrorist who was involved in trying to restore the terror organization's military capabilities in Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, also in the southern part of Lebanon.
Israeli actions against Hezbollah this week
Karky's death comes a day after the Israeli military struck a Hezbollah training camp in the Bekaa Valley, also in southern Lebanon. The IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate had identified terrorist operatives at the training camp who were trained to shoot and use various weapons, the IDF said.
Also this week, Western intelligence officials had told The Jerusalem Post that Hezbollah had accelerated the pace of its reconstruction efforts at a time when the Lebanese government had adopted a decision to disarm the terrorist organization.
“Hezbollah is rebuilding faster than the Lebanese army is dismantling," the officials said.
