US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Admiral Brad Cooper praised the Lebanese Armed Forces for its discovery of a Hezbollah terror tunnel in a post on CENTCOM's X/Twitter on Monday.
"Congratulations to the LAF for recently finding a massive underground Hezbollah terror tunnel for the second time in the past two months," Cooper wrote. "Dismantling tunnels nefariously used by non-state actors to store ammunition, missiles, and attack drones, promotes peace and stability in Lebanon and across the region."
"Job well done by the LAF and [the] US-led Mechanism team that is helping enforce commitments made by Israel and Lebanon," he concluded.
LAF chief Gen. Haykal visits Washington, CENTCOM hq, to discuss US support for Hezbollah disarmament efforts
This comes shortly after LAF chief General Rodolphe Haykal met with US officials in Washington and CENTCOM's headquarters in Tampa, Florida, last week, where he discussed the Trump administration's support for LAF and to discuss efforts to disarm Hezbollah terrorists.
US Senator Lindsey Graham noted that Haykal refused to recognize Hezbollah as a terror organization within "the context of Lebanon," and so prematurely ended their Friday meeting.
