The US State Department said on Thursday that it has approved the potential sale of Ku Band Multi-Function Radio Frequency System Radars and related equipment to Jordan for an estimated cost of $280 million.

The principal contractor for the sale will be RTX Missile Defense Technologies, the State Department said in a statement.

The United States military has moved dozens of fighter jets to a Jordanian air force base, according to satellite imagery and flight tracking data analysed by The New York Times on Friday.

More than 60 jets were pictured parked on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in central Jordan, which is three times more than the usual number of US attack aircraft present on the base, according to the NYT.

According to the report, at least 68 cargo planes have additionally landed on the base since Sunday, and several US drones and helicopters were seen in the area.

US pulls out of Syria’s al-Tanf base after 15-day equipment removal, relocating to Jordan - report

US forces departed the al-Tanf military base in eastern Syria, relocating troops stationed there to Jordan, two Syrian military sources told Agence-France Presse on February 11.

"American forces withdrew entirely from al-Tanf base today," a Syrian military source told Agence France-Presse.

US forces had been removing equipment from the base for the past 15 days, another Syrian military source told the outlet.

Pro-regime Tehran MP and member of Iran’s Foreign Policy Commission, Mojtaba Zarei, called on Jordanian "fighting brothers" to take control of a US military base in the kingdom in a post on X/Twitter on February 2.
