At least 25 prisoners reported killed by wardens in uprising in Syrian jail

At least 25 prisoners were killed in an uprising in a Syrian jail, Israel Radio reported Saturday. According to a report issued by a London-based Syrian human rights group, Islamic prisoners in a military jail outside Damascus began rioting earlier on Saturday and many were killed by wardens attempting to restore the order. Riots were reportedly continuing at the prison unabated. A plea by the prisoners' wives to the regime that it intervene to stop the massacre remained unanswered.
