Baghdad: 1 US soldier killed, 2 wounded by bomb

A roadside bomb killed a US soldier and wounded two others Sunday in northwestern Baghdad, the military said. The attack that killed the Multinational Division - Baghdad soldier occurred during a route clearance mission as part of a US-Iraqi security sweep aimed at stopping sectarian violence in the capital, according to a statement. Members of the soldier's unit have found 21 roadside bombs during 138 missions, it said. The soldier's identity was not released pending notification of relatives. At least 3,235 members of the US military have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
