Egyptian guards kill Sudanese man trying to cross illegally into Israel

Egyptian officials say border guards have shot dead a Sudanese migrant and arrested more than 30 other Africans trying to cross illegally into Israel. Imad Kharboush, head of the Northern Sinai ambulance department, said a 24-year-old Darfur man was shot in the back of his head while trying to get across barbed wire on the Egypt-Israel border early Wednesday. Kharboush said the man was with three other Sudanese, who were arrested. Two of them were slightly wounded. An Egyptian police officer later said more than 30 Africans were arrested Wednesday in separate incidents. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to media.
