Hamas was nearing its goal of taking over the Gaza Strip, Israel Radio reported Wednesday overnight.
Several hours after midnight the organization was concentrating its efforts on the Palestinian presidential complex and the buildings belonging to Preventative Security, both institutions affiliated with Fatah.
Preventative Security urged its members to "fight to their last drop of blood," despite gunmen's warnings that they were running out of ammunition and were close to surrendering.
Concurrently, Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas were debating the conditions of a truce, but have not yet signed an agreement. Hamas denied that ceasefire negotiations were taking place.
