Two security personnel from Iran's Revolutionary Guards were killed in what state media said was "an anti-revolutionary attack" in the western district of Sarvabad on Tuesday.

Three other security personnel were wounded in the attack.

State-backed IRGC executions

This follows Saturday's execution of six men accused of participating in attacks that killed four IRGC security officers, according to state-affiliated news agency Mizan.

One additional man was executed for the killing of a pro-IRGC muslim cleric in 2009.

The seven men were also accused of having ties to Israel.

The IRGC has a long history of executing individuals accused of collusion with Israel, for fear of a threat against the Iranian regime.

According to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights organization, over 1,000 individuals have been executed over the past 10 months, the highest number of Iranian state executions in three decades.
