Iran said it had conducted "defensive strikes" against US-linked targets and accused the US of violating the memorandum of understanding between the two countries on Saturday, following US strikes on Friday.

Iran's military advisor to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Mohsen Rezaei, stated on his X/Twitter account that the US has violated both Article 1 and Article 5 of the ceasefire agreement and promised that "the response to any violation of any article of the Memorandum of Understanding will be swift and crushing."

According to a statement from Iran's Foreign Ministry, the US attack on Iran, and an alleged attack on Lebanon "in coordination with the United States," led to Iran's strikes.

Iran also warned Gulf countries not to allow their territory or facilities to be used to aid attacks on Iran.
