Some 2,000 Jordanians protested after Friday noon prayers against Israeli economic sanctions and military operations in the Gaza Strip, calling for solidarity with Hamas and more suicide attacks against Israel. The protest in the Jordanian capital of Amman, led by Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood organization, praised the Hamas movement which control's the Gaza Strip and its leader Ismail Haniyeh, in a show of strength by the movement following its defeat at the polls. "Al-Kassam army go forward with your suicide attacks against the enemy," shouted the protesters, referring to Hamas's armed wing, while waving Jordanian and Brotherhood flags. The protesters also called for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and the closure of the embassy in Amman. "Al-Rabieh must be liberated from the Zionist embassy and its ambassador," they shouted, referring to the neighborhood where it is located. "Lift the sanctions on Gaza," and "Where are you, Arabs?" said the banners carried by members of the Islamic Action Front, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement. The protest came just a few weeks after the IAF suffered a blow in parliamentary elections, losing 11 of its 17 seats in the 110-members lower house of parliament. The protest ended peacefully and no clashes were reported.
