Lebanon's president praised Hizbullah Wednesday, saying the terror group should keep its weapons until the Arab-Israeli conflict ends.
"The resistance should stay until a just and comprehensive peace is achieved in the region," President Emile Lahoud said during a visit to southern Lebanon on the sixth anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from a security zone there.
Hizbullah spearheaded a guerrilla campaign that helped end Israel's 18-year occupation in southern Lebanon on May 25, 2000. The group planned to hold celebrations marking the anniversary on Thursday.
