Saudi authorities behead a Saudi man for killing a compatriot

Saudi authorities decapitated a citizen convicted of fatally stabbing a compatriot after a dispute, a newspaper report said on Saturday. Mashari Bin Ali al-Balwy was executed a day earlier in the northern city of Tabuk, said the state-owned Okaz citing an Interior Ministry statement. It said al-Balwy stabbed Ibrahim al-Howeity in the stomach with a knife, but did not clarify the nature of the argument between the two men. Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed, usually with a sword.
