Turkey's prime minister criticized Israel on Tuesday for allowing construction near a disputed holy site in Jerusalem, saying the objections from the Muslim world were justified.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would discuss the issue with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert when he visits Turkey on February 14.
The Turkish premier accused Israel of violating agreements to protect holy sites by going ahead with the repairs to a ramp on the edge of a hilltop known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount.
The construction sparked days of violent Palestinian protests and objections from Muslim world that the excavations were attempts to damage their shrines.
