Two lawmakers from the banned Muslim Brotherhood were released on bail Thursday, a day after they were arrested on suspicion of reviving the group, their lawyer said.
Legislators Sabri Amer and Ragab Abu Zaid were freed on a 10,000 Egyptian pound (US$1,900) bail, said lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud. He said a state security prosecutor ordered them to appear at his office for further questioning on Saturday.
The Brotherhood, which has been banned since 1954, is Egypt's largest opposition group. Its lawmakers, who run as independents, currently hold 88 seats in the 454-member lower house of the parliament.
Amer and Abu Zaid were arrested in early morning raids on Wednesday at their homes in Manufiya, a district some 85 kilometers (50 miles) north of Cairo, according to their lawyer. Police had said they were wanted for questioning on charges of reviving the outlawed group.
