The IDF arrested a Palestinian gunman who opened fire on the settlement of Migdal Oz on Saturday evening, which is in the Gush Etzion area of the West Bank.

Security Forces said the terrorist used a homemade gun to fire on a security officer guarding the entrance to the community.
The terror suspect has been taken in for questioning. There were no injuries in the attack.

A recently leaked secret report by one of the Palestinian Authority security services painted a worrying picture of a possible upsurge in terrorist attacks in the West Bank in 2014 if the current Israeli-Palestinian peace talks fail.

At the end of 2013, Senior IDF officials assessed that the chances of an intifada breaking out in the West Bank were low, but were nevertheless preparing for the worst-case scenario in the event of a breakdown in the peace talks.
By March-April, when the nine-month deadline set for the talks approaches, “We want to be ready for everything,” a high-ranking military source said.
